The Wooddale Chamber Choir was founded by their conductor Dr. David Donelson in 2019 and has a rich history of service and high caliber musical performances.
They perform regularly within the traditional worship services at the Eden Prairie (Minnesota) campus of Wooddale Church and is the featured choral ensemble at the Good Friday service each Lenten season. Members of the chamber choir were chosen from the ranks of the 135 voice Wooddale Choir. Though the ensemble performs a variety of styles, there is a strong emphasis on singing sacred traditional choral music. Their repertoire includes musical styles from classical works, early to modern, along with praise and contemporary songs.
The Wooddale String Quartet has more than 20 years of experience providing music for church services, special events and weddings throughout the twin cities of Minneapolis/St. Paul and greater Minnesota. They customize music to every occasion.
In addition to their classical repertoire, they offer a broad range of Jewish, Scandinavian, Irish and contemporary popular music.
Dr. David Donelson is the founding conductor of the Wooddale Chamber Choir. He also serves as the conductor of the Wooddale Choir and Wooddale Orchestra, a position he has held since 2015. Before accepting his current position, he was Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Crown College from 1990 – 2008. He returned to Crown College in 2013 at the invitation of the College. He was named Department Chair in January of 2014. From 2008 to 2013, Dr. Donelson was Professor of Music and Department Chair at Malone University (Canton, OH). During his academic tenure he was awarded the Outstanding Faculty Distinction four times. He is a graduate of Bethel University (St. Paul, MN) and Bethel Theological Seminary where he earned a Master of Arts degree in sacred music. He earned a doctorate in higher education administration with a concentration in music education from Nova Southeastern University (Ft. Lauderdale, FL).
His national and international tours have earned outstanding reviews. As one critic wrote of Dr Donelson’s conducting and preparation of an ensemble
"...the choir, under the direction of Dr. David Donelson, sang as if one voice. Their commitment to the music and their unwavering focus made it seem like they could read the conductor's mind and interpret exactly what he wanted them to do even before he showed them with his gesture..."
